Our Services

We bring awareness to communities primarily in Boston, MA.

We curate workshops that focus on educating, and providing resources.

We provide support and knowledge to women, and families in order to heal.

Women who have experienced abuse and/or other traumas are often left in the dark, and it is difficult for them to share their stories, and heal in order to reach their full potential to be self-sufficient. Our services focus on accomplishing that these women from these communities can strengthen their adaptive and life skills, which has been affected by their trauma.

We are supporting women in creating a path for healing.

Our workshops focus on: The Four S's

Self-Esteem

After experiencing abuse and/or other trauma women's self-esteem is truly impacted in a detrimental way. Trauma caused to the body and brain as a result of abuse creates long-term effects to the individual’s self-esteem, identity, and the ability to love themselves. We are empowering and uplifting women through our services by taking a more of a holistic approach, which will allow these women to reconnect and love themselves.

Skill Building

Symptoms resulting from trauma can directly impact women's learning, reasoning, problem-solving, emotional intelligence, and communication abilities. With access to the right resources, these women can become empowered by their own abilities and gain confidence through skills such as self-care, learning about nutrition, understanding trauma, and much more.

Self-Regulation

Women who have experienced a traumatic event often experience trauma effects that extend to their autonomic nervous system and find themselves in a constant fear response recognized as fight-or-flight-or-freeze. It’s important to acknowledge, process and manage emotions in order to be able to self-regulate. We are helping these women to understand emotions, by educating them on how their trauma affects their autonomic nervous system, while integrating holistic approaches.

Safety

Our team is working each and every day to make a positive impact by teaching women strategies on how to maintain their safety, especially that Time of Butterflies maintains safety within our workshops. Women who have experienced a traumatic event tend to feel unsafe in their bodies, in their environments and relationships with others, making it a challenge to transition out of abusive relationships found at learning facilities, religious organizations, the workplace, and at home. Our workshops focus on safety as a whole (commuting, safety in our bodies, how to safely transition out of an abusive relationship, and more).

Personality disorders can make many parts of day-to-day life difficult, so some people turn to substances as a way to cope with these difficulties. For some, this may be a way to cover feelings of emptiness or social isolation. For others, it may be a way to heighten thrill-seeking behaviors, impulsivity, and swings of anger. To spread awareness, here are two free guides covering personality disorders and co-occurring substance abuse as well as resources for those suffering from, or suspect a loved one may be suffering from domestic violence as unfortunately the two often co-exist.

Depression and addiction can go hand-in-hand. The National Bureau of Economic Research reports that people who have had a mental illness at some point in their lives (43% of the U.S. population) consume 69% of the nation’s alcohol and 84% of the nation’s cocaine. Studies have found that when someone with a depressive disorder abuses alcohol, both disorders are impacted and often become more severe. In the same vein, major depressive disorder is the most common co-occurring mental health condition among those with alcohol use disorder (AUD).
