Therapy

Reasons to go to therapy:

  • You won't hear things like "it's going to be okay, I know how you feel, you will get over it"

  • You get an entire hour to talk about whatever you want guilt-free.

  • Saying things out loud helps you understand them in a different way.

  • A therapist helps you develop insight and coping skills.

  • There is not competition in dialogue. A therapist won't talk about their problems and make those problems bigger than yours.

  • It is your space, provided for you and only you.

"I know that I was put on this earth to support, and help others in their healing journey. I know that I am only one person, but one person can make a huge impact in someone else's life, and that's what is the most important to me. As a therapist I have experienced being the client and have experienced inequalities and culturally insensitive interactions with therapists who were not culturally sensitive or understood intersectionality in order to better support their clients. As a therapist and as someone who is a part of the BIPOC communities I want to start changing that."

Healing Well Counseling

Maybe you're not sure if what's happened to you "counts" as trauma. What you're sure of, is that you're feeling stuck. You've been hurt and those hurts keep spilling into every other part of your life: Your work isn't getting done. You feel isolated from people around you. You want to move forward in your life but those hurts keep pulling you back. Maybe you've tried therapy before and it didn't work. Maybe you get why you feel this way, but you're not sure how to heal. If any of that sounds like you... then welcome. You're in the right place.

Free Black Therapy

A 501c3 Nonprofit Organization dedicated to providing remote mental health services with Black Mental Health professionals for Black and African American individuals. Absolutely FREE.

Finding a therapist who shares racial identity is one of the most important factors in the therapist search. Black therapists can better relate and understand their culture, values, and experiences, especially those relating to systematic oppression, racism, and intergenerational trauma.

Black Americans are disproportionately affected by mental illness and poverty. Black and African American mental health professionals are disproportionately underrepresented as they account for just 5% of the psychology workforce. While the average cost for a therapy session can be over $125, Black therapists are also caught in a cycle of financial strain due to providing lower-cost services to Black people who often don't have the resources, but have a higher need, for mental health access- deeming black therapists for Black people highly inaccessible.

Therapy for Black Kids

Therapy for Black Kids (T4BK) was founded by Dr. Erlanger "Earl" Turner. As a psychologist and mental health advocate, Dr. Earl is passionate about changing the narratives around seeking therapy in the Black community. In the midst of the "racism pandemic" of 2020, he felt that Black kids and teens were being neglected from conversations despite the stress and negativity they experience often in society. T4BK was created to help parents deal with the challenges of racial injustice and foster resilience to promote healthy development. T4BK operates under the fiscal sponsorship of Turner Psychological & Consulting Services, LLC.
